This route climbs Walla Crag from the National Trust's Great Wood car park, south of Keswick. Parking is paid and the car park sits at about 85 m. The Calfclose Bay bus stop, about 140 m away, is served by the 78.

The line is 1.5 km long and gains about 290 m. The first 480 m follow gravel tracks that are public rights of way, rising from about 85 m to 140 m. A public footpath then carries the route for about 840 m and does most of the climbing, from about 140 m to 355 m. The last 190 m are on permissive paths with a rock surface on the map, rising to the top at 379 m.

About 1 km of the line follows public footpaths and bridleways, and about 1 km crosses open access land. No part of the route is graded on the map for difficulty, and it ends a few metres from the mapped path at the summit point.

Walla Crag is 379 m high, 204th of the 214 Wainwrights by height, and belongs to the Central Fells in Book 3.
