How many Wainwrights are there?

There are 214: 35 in the Eastern Fells, 36 in the Far Eastern Fells, 27 in the Central Fells, 30 in the Southern Fells, 24 in the Northern Fells, 29 in the North Western Fells and 33 in the Western Fells.

What is a Wainwright?

A Wainwright is a Lake District fell with its own chapter in one of Alfred Wainwright’s seven Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells, published between 1955 and 1966. They run from Scafell Pike, 978 m and the highest ground in England, down to Castle Crag at 290 m. Walkers who climb all 214 have completed the Wainwrights. More in the guides.
