The start for Causey Pike here is the roadside parking at Stoneycroft Ghyll, close to the hamlet of Uzzicar. It is free, has room for about 15 cars and lies at about 125 m. The nearest bus stop with a current service is Green Road in Swinside, about 1.3 km away in a straight line, served by the 77.

The route is 3.3 km long and gains about 510 m. It stays on mapped paths from the first few metres to the summit. OpenStreetMap grades the first 790 m hiking and most of the rest mountain hiking, with about 630 m between 2.25 km and 2.9 km not graded for difficulty on the map.

For 2.2 km the climb is even, from about 125 m to 405 m. Then comes a nearly level 200 m, and the route crosses Stoneycroft Gill at about 2.5 km. The steep part follows: between 2.5 km and 2.9 km the path rises from about 430 m to 600 m. The last 350 m ease off to the top at 637 m.

About 2.7 km of the line follows public footpaths, and 3.2 km crosses open access land.

Causey Pike is 637 m high, joint 119th of the 214 Wainwrights by height, and belongs to the North Western Fells in Book 6.
