Carrock Fell is 662 m high, 105th of the 214 Wainwrights by height, and belongs to the Northern Fells in Book 5. This route starts from the small car park in Mosedale run by the Mosedale Quakers. Parking is paid, there is room for about 10 cars, and the car park sits at about 220 m.

The nearest bus stop with a current service is Road End in Mungrisdale, about 5.1 km away in a straight line, served by the 509, X4 and X5.

The line is 2.7 km long and gains about 440 m. It leaves the car park by a short access road and follows an asphalt lane for about 290 m. At about 320 m it joins a single path that runs almost to the summit, a distance of 2.4 km. It is not graded for difficulty on the map.

The climb comes in two parts. Between 0.3 km and 1.1 km the path rises from about 240 m to 445 m. It then eases for about 300 m before climbing steadily again, reaching about 545 m at 2 km and 630 m at 2.5 km. The last few metres leave the mapped path for the summit point at 662 m. No cairn or trig pillar is mapped there.

None of the line follows a public right of way in the LDNPA data, but 2.5 km crosses open access land and about 290 m is on the lane. The first 20 m or so, by the car park, are on none of these in the data.
