St Sunday Crag is 841 m high, 22nd of the 214 Wainwrights by height, and belongs to the Eastern Fells in Book 1. This route starts from the Patterdale Hotel car park in Patterdale, the same car park as the Place Fell route. Parking is paid, the hotel runs it, and it sits at about 150 m. The Patterdale Hotel bus stop is about 50 m away, served by the 508 and 509.

The line is 4.5 km long and gains about 720 m. For the first 1.3 km it gains little, reaching about 215 m by 1 km and then running level. This part follows paths with compacted and rock surfaces on the map, and crosses Hag Beck at about 0.9 km.

At about 1.3 km a footpath graded mountain hiking by OpenStreetMap takes over for 2.5 km. It climbs from about 215 m to 480 m by 2.2 km, eases for about 400 m at just under 500 m, then climbs again to about 670 m.

The last 750 m follow a path that is not graded for difficulty on the map. They rise from about 670 m to the summit at 841 m, where a cairn is mapped.

About 2.6 km of the line follows public footpaths and 4.3 km crosses open access land. The first 80 m or so, by the car park, are on neither in the data.

The GPX file traces the route from the car park to the summit cairn. Come back the same way, or plan a longer walk with a map before you set out.
