This route climbs Fleetwith Pike from the car park at Gatesgarth Farm, at the south-east end of Buttermere. Parking is paid, the car park has room for about 40 cars, and it sits at about 110 m. The Mountain Rescue Point bus stop at Gatesgarth, about 20 m away, is served by the 77.

The line is 1.8 km long and gains about 540 m, an average of nearly one metre up for every three along. It begins with about 130 m along the Honister Pass road, then leaves it on a public footpath. From about 630 m in, the footpath follows the ridge that OpenStreetMap names Fleetwith Edge all the way to the top.

The climb is steep almost from the start. The path passes about 200 m at 500 m in, 350 m at 1 km and 510 m at 1.5 km, and reaches the summit at 649 m. The steepest part is the 500 m between 1.3 km and 1.8 km, which gains about 230 m. The map gives no difficulty grade for the path.

About 1.1 km of the line follows public footpaths and bridleways, 1.6 km crosses open access land, and the route ends a few metres from the mapped path at the summit point.

Fleetwith Pike is 649 m high and belongs to the Western Fells in Book 7.
