This route climbs Glenridding Dodd from Beckside car park in Glenridding, run by Park with Ease for the Lake District National Park Authority. Parking is paid and the car park sits at about 155 m. The Bus Shelter stop, about 80 m away, is served by the 508, 509 and 559.
The line is short: 1.6 km with about 280 m of ascent. It shares its first 1.3 km with the Sheffield Pike route from the same car park. For the first 700 m it barely climbs, from about 155 m to 200 m, on paths, lanes, a short track and two stretches of Greenside Road.
The climbing then comes all at once. Between 0.7 km and 1.5 km the line rises from about 200 m to 435 m, steepest between 0.8 km and 1 km. The last 100 m are almost level to the top at 442 m, where a cairn is mapped. None of the paths are graded for difficulty on the map.
About 630 m of the line follows public footpaths and bridleways, and 790 m crosses open access land. Between about 0.7 km and 1.1 km, some 340 m is on paths the landowner opens by permission rather than public rights of way, and about 70 m of that lies outside open access land. A stretch of about 85 m just after the car park is on none of these in the data.
Glenridding Dodd is 442 m high, 193rd of the 214 Wainwrights by height, and belongs to the Eastern Fells in Book 1.
