This route climbs Nab Scar from Rydal Pelter Bridge car park, run by the LDNPA. Parking is paid, with room for about 25 cars, at about 60 m. The Church for Rydal Mount bus stop, about 170 m away, is served by the 555 and 599.

The line is 2.4 km long with about 410 m of ascent. The first 700 m stay between about 60 m and 90 m on a track, lanes and short paths. They pass close to Rydal Water at about 320 m and cross the River Rothay at about 360 m. After about 30 m of main road, a short stepped path and more lanes lead on to about 870 m.

A path not graded for difficulty on the map then does most of the climbing. Between 0.9 km and 1.9 km it rises from about 120 m to 380 m, then eases, reaching about 430 m at 2.2 km. The last 25 m leave the mapped path for the summit cairn at 450 m.

About 2.1 km of the line follows public footpaths and bridleways, 1.5 km crosses open access land and about 100 m is on roads. The stepped path at about 0.5 km and a lane at about 0.8 km, about 170 m together, are on land the landowner opens by permission rather than public rights of way. Another 150 m, near the start and past the steps, has no right of way or access in the data.

Nab Scar is 450 m high, 190th of the 214 Wainwrights by height, and belongs to the Eastern Fells in Book 1.
