This route climbs Loughrigg Fell from the lower White Moss car park, run by Lowther Estates, beside Rydal Water. Parking is paid and the car park sits at about 60 m. The White Moss Common bus stop, about 35 m away, is served by the 555 and 599.

The line is 2.6 km long and gains about 290 m. It crosses Dunney Beck after 140 m and the River Rothay after 360 m, then follows gravel bridleways, including a 435 m stretch that is permissive rather than a public right of way. For the first 1.5 km the route stays below about 125 m.

The climbing is concentrated in the last 1.1 km, which rise from about 125 m to the top at 335 m. Most of the final 700 m are on paths that OpenStreetMap grades mountain hiking, one step above its easiest grade. The route ends a few metres from the mapped paths, at the summit point.

About 740 m of the line follows public footpaths and bridleways, and 2.5 km crosses open access land. Loughrigg Fell is 335 m high, 211th of the 214 Wainwrights by height, and belongs to the Central Fells in Book 3.
